The E-Cig: The Beginner’s Guide

E-cig Beginner GuideRight, you keep seeing the term “electronic cigarette” or “e-cig” thrown about and you have decided to investigate further. Apparently Kate Moss is using one and you heard somewhere that Leonardo di Capri was seem with one too. It’s time to learn more…

When it comes to getting an e-cig, you are going to want to buy some sort of starter kit. Luckily, this is offered by pretty much every company that manufactures and sells these innovative new adult “play-things” which will make your life a lot easier.

The electronic cigarette itself will consist of either two or three sections. You will have a main part which usually is made up of the battery of the device. This is the one electronic part of the gadget that will create the vapor when the refillable (preferably) cartridges are inhaled with. The liquid in the cartridges makes its way through the electronic part, turning it into vapor. You still get the lungful of nicotine and you still exhale air, much in the same way as you would smoke a “real” cigarette, but you get rid of all the toxic stuff that comes with normal cigarettes.

When you buy a starter kit you will usually find that it comes with one or two batteries, a couple of heads or cartridges and a case or some liquid refill. You are going to want at least two batteries. This will be enough to keep you going with one on charge and one being used by you. Ideally, you are going to want three or four batteries – the more the merrier. The last thing that you are going to want to do is run out of either battery power or cartridges/e-liquid, so back yourself up by having more than you will think you’ll need.

In short, the longer the battery section, the longer it will last. The “mini” versions are more like normal sized cigarettes, but the mid-size ones are going to have a longer life, as you would expect. You may find that these are more cigar-sized, which doesn’t work for a lot of people.

There are plenty of variations out there these days but you will find that these will form the basis for almost every electronic cigarette that you will come across. Some of them may have a button that needs to be depressed as you inhale to prevent unwanted usage and battery depletion too, and you can even buy disposable versions now for those that are looking for relief on the go, perhaps on a long train journey or when you plan to fly.

The disposable electronic cigarettes are great for those that want to try before they buy, so to speak, and is well worth having a go at if you are planning on quitting smoking but don’t want to commit to spending a lot of money on an electronic cigarette when you don’t know whether or not it will work for you. The only problem with the disposable ones is that they will prove to be expensive if bought over long periods of time so you won’t really want to use these for longer than a trial period.

The mini electronic cigarettes are perfect for those that want a realistic appeal – usually for when you want to substitute normal cigarettes with these ones in a bid to be healthier or to give up. They are small and discreet enough to be virtually unnoticeable, but because of their small size, the battery might not last as long as you would want it to.

The mid-sized electronic cigarettes have a much longer battery life, usually because of their bigger size, but because they are larger, most normal smokers aren’t really a fan of them and they do prove to be more expensive than other models.
