The first thing you’ll notice about Smoketip is that the website looks somewhat outdated, especially when you compare it to the likes of V2 Cigs. It could just have been us, but it would appear that this e-cigarette had designed their website for the older generation among us. This isn’t enough to disregard this brand as not one of the best out there so we had a closer peek.

Batteries for Life?

This is one of the first things that are likely to jump out at you from the website. A 100% lifetime warranty that actually IS a lifetime warranty? Surely this would be too good to be true?

The good news is that when your e-cig battery conks out on you, as long as you get a RMA from customer services and send it back, you’ll get a free battery sent in replacement along with your next order. Also, when you order 3 packs of ten cartridges, you’ll get a free battery sent out. This has both good and bad points…

You are probably going to buy those cartridges anyway, so why not order three packs of ten? This seems to be a waste of money when you consider that you are going to more than likely refill the cartridges with your own e-liquid. It does mean that you need to continually buy cartridges in order to get a free battery.

The other thing that annoyed us somewhat is the fact that you have to return the battery before you get a new one sent out, and you still need to make an order in order to get your replacement! This means that you will firstly need to buy a battery from SmokeTip before you can send your faulty one back, and then purchase something else in order to get the replacement sent back to you….

If you don’t want to pay for another order or purchase three or more packs of cartridges to get your free battery, you can always just pay the $9.50 processing fee which, we feel, is ridiculous. We’d rather order something than pay that money for nothing. It just doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense.

Hassle, right?

The Starter Kit

This is the bit that you are waiting for – the nitty gritty about the starter kit. Well for the rather high price of $59.95, you will get 2 batteries, 5 cartridges, a mains charger, a USB charger and a gift box. When you consider that V2 Cigs offer practically the same thing for the same price, and they received a glowing review, you might think that SmokeTip were setting the bar high.

We felt that their lack of kits let the side down considerably. Some people may be looking for more or less in their kit and this would mean that you would need to start buying things separately. Just one starter kit seems rare these days with e-cig brands and certainly doesn’t bode well with us.

One thing that we were very impressed with was the vast quantity of flavors that they offer with their e-cigarette cartridges. There is no e-liquid on this site, but this seems to be something that only V2 Cigs have gone with so far. Very few brands offer liquid as well as cartridges.

They also four different strengths – full flavor (16mg), light (12mg), ultra light (6mg) and no nicotine (0mg).

Why 3.5 Stars?

There has to be a reason why SmokeTip only got 3.5 stars, right? They have a good range of flavors, their product isn’t shoddily made and the prices are reasonable…. What went wrong?

Firstly, we had a few issues with our order. There was a mistake made in the ordering process and their customer services representative was difficult, and that is putting it politely. If you ever need to use their customer services in order to return something, we pity you already…

Secondly, their e-cig isn’t the best made one that we have come across. There are poorer quality examples out there but there are higher ones too. We felt this was a mid-range electronic cigarette and therefore their prices should have been cheaper.
